Each card is color-coded to a Domain (K-8) or Conceptual Category (9-12) and displays only one standard so that teachers can plan instruction and create aligned classroom assessments from the ideal combination of standards.

The Common Core State Standards contain a unique set of standards that describe literacy skills students should demonstrate in courses such as middle and high school history, social studies, science, and other technical subjects. These standards are grouped into two areas: Literacy in History/Social Studies and Literacy in Science & Technical Subjects. Both sets of standards are arranged into multi-grade bands to allow schools flexibility regarding when and where these standards will be covered. The grade bands are: 6th-8th, 9th-10th, and 11th-12th.

The Common Core State Standards card sets may be comprised of 30 to 130 separate cards.
